In all aspects of our everyday life, we are given a choice of how we contribute to society. Engineering challenges are about advancing our world through innovation to be more efficient in what we do. Be it reducing waste or emissions to bring us closer to climate positive outcomes or considering the impact of our decisions to make the world a safer place. Effective innovation makes sense.Accounting for 3% of worldwide carbon emissions, datacentres are largely forgotten in terms of impact by being “in the cloud”. In 2015 I co-invented, and patented, a novel, self-contained immersion cooling system for High Performance and Cloud Computing systems able to achieve greater than 85% reduction in HPC cooling system carbon emissions, whilst providing a safer work environment with no heat or noise exposure to staff.Throughout my more recent roles, I have led research and development and commercialisation teams to deliver a breakthrough product able to revolutionise energy efficiency in cloud computing resulting in reduced delivery and operational costs of computing, increased system reliability, whilst maintaining an unparalleled level of safety.With a strong focus on sustainability, I have wide ranging experience from strategic development of worldwide infrastructure assets, management and delivery of complex projects, performance-based engineering and maintenance management, project and financial management. I have worked through full lifecycles of my projects.
