In 2018, I retired from a 27-year career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I spent most of my career conducting homicide, child abduction, and drug trafficking investigations. The last 7 years of my career, I was a Supervisory Special Agent assigned to Behavioral Analysis Unit 3 (Crimes Against Children). While at BAU, I was responsible for providing operational support and training to federal, state, local and international law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation of child abductions, mysterious disappearances of children, child homicide and child sexual victimization. The operational support involved the behavioral analysis of violent offenders to produce products related to risk, personality, and threat assessments.These products resulted in strategies and recommendations which furthered criminal investigations and prosecutions. I have either led or assisted with consultations involving law enforcement agencies in thirty states and the countries of Australia, Canada, Moldova, Netherlands, Spain, Tajikistan, and Thailand. These consultations covered areas such as threats of targeted violence, terrorism, homicide, sexual assault, child abduction, equivocal death, and cold cases.Prior to being assigned to the BAU, I held a variety of positions in the FBI including Special Weapons & Tactics team operator, Evidence Response Team member, Crisis Management Coordinator, Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force coordinator, Violent Gang Safe Streets Task Force coordinator and team leader for the FBI’s Southeast Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team.After retiring, I continue to use my experience and expertise by providing consultations and training to public and private sector organizations through MacKizer Behavioral Analysis Consulting. I regularly provide training and consultations for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, National Criminal Justice Training Center, and the International Homicide Investigators Association. I have conducted over two hundred presentations in thirty-four states and four countries, to various government and private organizations. The topics included child abduction investigations, child homicide investigations, cold case investigations, criminal investigative analysis, interview & interrogation, risk assessment, and threat assessment & management.
