As a patent examiner, work duties include:- Reviewing patent applications and determining their compliance under 35 U.S.C 101-112. This included drafting rejections and objections to the patent applications based on legal sufficiency including novelty, non-obviousness, utility, clarity, and sufficiency of disclosure. This duty included submitting the aforementioned rejections, objections, and, when applicable, eventual allowances, as Office Actions (Patent Office’s form of written correspondence with applicants seeking a patent). - Extensively searching for prior art relevant to patent application subject matter examined, primarily relating to financial business methods (transactions and insurance), previously computer memory-access and control applications.- Interviewing applicant representatives (patent lawyers/agents) in order to advance prosecution of patent applications examined.- Assisting and receiving help from fellow examiners on Quality Enhancement Meetings (QEMs) for finding prior art relevant to fellow examiners’ work, and for general help.

As an associate consultant my core responsibilities included leading a web services testing team responsible for testing APIs of web and mobile applications of one of our clients using tools such as SoapUI and Groovy scripts. This involved updating and running services test scripts as per client requirements, and logging/tracking discovered defects with online documentation tools such as Atlassian's JIRA.Other responsibilities included attending cross-functional meetings with stakeholders and developers to discuss application requirements, deployment schedules, performance metrics, and defects.

As an Intern, responsibilities consisted of testing clientele websites to verify content was working as per client requirements, creating and updating test cases, and at one point, leading a team of interns to refactor testcases for client sites, greatly reducing test case redundancy, resulting in a drastic decrease in testcase edit time. As a result of this opportunity, I have learned many processes and industry standards for quality assurance, and learned to use tools such as JIRA and Qtest.
