About Mark Marut
Change: Some embrace it, others are averse to it. Me? I live for it. That's because the way that we process information, purchase goods, communicate, travel, and experience life is constantly changing. For me, change brings excitement, innovation, adaptation, and an alternative way of thinking. Part of the reason why it invigorates me has to do with my international upbringing. I have been fortunate enough to live in and visit over 20 countries, and through each of those experiences I have seen different ways to approach the same problem. However, as with anything in life, too much change can cause inconsistencies and lack of clarity towards a goal. That's why I value a company that has a healthy balance of adaptability, formidable core values, and a driven purpose that serves to improve functionality within the world we live in. I apply this to my work by leveraging my professional and life experiences to approach problems from a multitude of angles, and understand that there is no one way to solve them. And while I am confident in my personal ability to find solutions to dynamic problems, I also respect the value in seeking the input of others to propose the best fit solution. My technical background in chemical engineering has allowed me to lead troubleshooting efforts on integral equipment, to avoid product downturn and significant revenue losses. My current role gives me opportunities to make strides towards more energy efficient operations. I seized these opportunities and have made improvements to reduce the sitewide energy index. As the world is digitizing, autonomy is the name of the game. I have utilized my VBA skills to reduce time requirements for data entry, freeing up more time for me and those to come after me to work on high value improvement efforts. While my technical skills have allowed me to make meaningful contributions, I don't want to overlook how the coaching, mentoring, and teaching I have done over the years has helped get me to the position I am in now. Every year I volunteered or coached there was a new challenge I had to face, it helped me become more understanding, patient, and motivating. All of these experiences have helped me evolve my approach to problems in order to present the optimal solution. Other activities I enjoy doing outside of my professional life are traveling, Djing, food, swimming, Spikeball, basketball. Would love to connect with anyone who has similar interests, or anyone who is looking to discuss more about change and its role within corporations.
