Current: Mark is Co-Founder and President of a start-up organization, Moving-Well Network -- a data, leadership, movement/gait research, wellness and health analytics network targeting Movement, Walking, Social Connectedness, and Purposeful Activity. Early detection of movement impairment, to barriers to normal gait is a key aspect of prevention of our healthcare system efficiency. Moving-Well is working with healthcare, public service, and fitness providers to improve efficiency with both youth and adults in identifying barriers to: normal movement/motor control, to sustained and intense walking, and to experience early success in physical activity. As we age, our ability to walk with quality movement and speed are directly proportionate to our wellbeing, prevention of chronic disease, and quality of life. Also key to our quality of life is our ability to stay connected in our local community, to remain engaged for a purpose meaningful to our local neighborhood. The Moving-Well Network seeks to foster efficiency and strategy in measures, leadership, and solutions in these areas between city and state governments, employers, family practice physicians, physical therapist practices, senior citizen groups, and fitness centers. Moving-Well also is active in early stage projects to survey primary care physicians and primary care providers in their knowledge of assessment and recognition of gait, gait speed, and movement/motor control impairment which, if recognized and treated early, will prevent chronic disease onset in our youth and adults, and reduce risks of costly health conditions in our aging population. Improving the medical professional educational experience in this critical, but often overlooked area of primary care health/prevention, and aligning hybrid education models in joint education experiences between providers are other Moving-Well objectives.
