As a Line of Business Security Manager I provided customer facing security services to a variety of State of Minnesota agencies and assisted in carrying out the strategic direction of the State’s security program. I served as the primary security liaison to the agencies and provided leadership, management and oversight to carry out the information security services necessary to protect the State’s systems and data. I worked in concert with security leadership to establish and implement short and long term organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, standards and operating procedures to insure that information assets were adequately protected against current/future internal/external threats. I was responsible for identifying, directing, coordinating, evaluating, and reporting on information security risks and security requirements to meet agency business needs. I maintained a high degree of coordination and interaction between central and line-of-business teams to deliver a comprehensive suite of information security services. I was also responsible for budgeting, project prioritization and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the security organizational and line of business goals and objectives.

As the manager over enterprise information security governance, risk and compliance, I oversaw and participated in the planning, execution, and assessment of all statewide cyber security risk management and governance policies, procedures and guiding practices to be implemented by all State of Minnesota government agencies.

Facilitate and lead workgroup activities that focus on making recommendations and implementing methodologies to help states with cyber security metrics, compliance inventory, assessments and audits of their cyber security assets.

Served as the Chapter President, Vice President of Education, Vice President of Administration, and Director throughout my multi-year term. Provided governance and managed chapter affairs in accordance with bylaws, policies and procedures. Helped set long-range plans and determined short-term objectives that focused on increasing services to the profession and the chapter membership. Approved programs and activities proposed by committees, officers, and members. Kept the membership informed about chapter events and board activities. Recruited and appointed nonelected volunteers and committee members to assist with chapter activities. While serving as the Chapter President, the Minnesota Chapter was recognized as the “Best Very Large Chapter in North America.
