There are 2 themes that have followed me for the past 20+ years; I love to build systems and processes where there are none, and I love to be with people. For 14 years, that meant developing leadership teams to fulfill vision, direction and strategy. From there, we would commit ourselves to bringing together a variety of specialty teams to accomplish different goals, all focused on the big-picture vision. Although the word "successful" doesn't always fit well inside the NFP / church world, by all external measures, we were successful. I led a healthy staff team of 6, along with a 6 member volunteer leadership team that served and oversaw another 40+ volunteers, who in turn, interacted with 250+ students each week. From 2008 to 2013, those themes were focused on building a service company from the ground up; recruiting & training a field and office staff team, developing systems to guide all functions of the company, marketing the company, all possible varieties of sales as well as the hands-on work in the field, and more. The most enjoyable part was the staff team and cold-calling for new sales. The business ended successfully, and was sold in October 2013. Now into my second decade of the Marine industry, I'm focused on serving my customers in NE Wisconsin (and SW Florida) as they explore the waters of Door County and create lifelong memories. Cheers!
