This role is at the front end of securing potential project opportunities, both in terms of finding new business development streams, and managing the preparation and production of Expressions of Interest and tender submissions for major engineering projects. This role also involved management of the Estimating team. During this time, our Engineering division was re-established in 2008 and built up to an annual turnover of $120m by 2013.I was typically responsible for leading teams of 10 or more staff who all had specific areas of input to project bids (including pricing, legal and risk, design management, programming, innovation, safety, quality, environmental, submission writing, IR, industry participation etc). All bids were reviewed internally by senior management and company executives in the days leading up to submission to the client. Successful tenders included Rail Car Depot Relocation ($132m), Port Bonython Jetty Refurb ($12m), Arrium Rail Maintenance Facility ($9m), Gawler and Elizabeth Train Stations ($6m).In the Business Development role, I worked with a small team to establish a new software system to maintain a client database, and which tracked and reported forward works opportunities. My external communications with prospective clients was a two way exchange of information to establish their requirements and match them with our service offering.
