About Mark Mcbride
I lead the legal services team at Powerlink Queensland. My role is to ensure that Powerlink's senior decision makers have at their disposal the best legal advice and services to assist them to run Powerlink for the benefit of Queensland electricity consumers. It is my job to deliver those services blending the skills of the internal legal team and a panel of external providers including some of Australia's most respected practitioners.I completed my law degree from QUT in 1998 and, including working as as undergraduate clerk, have over 20 years legal experience. In that time time I have developed an in depth knowledge of how to assess and best respond to legal risk in a variety of statutory and commerical situations in an innovative manner. I have also developed my leadership and management skills to ensure my team performs as its optimum and my client receives the best value for money legal work.I have continued to develop my legal and business skills including a QLS principals certificate , financial management knowledge and leadership courses during that time. I have also have developed an extensive network of industry contacts to assist with business needs.I give back to the community and the legal profession both of which have treated me so well by hosting undergraduate law students in a University sponsored partnership program with Griffith, QUT, UQ and Bond to assist students to develop in a safe environment. We particularly like to help students who have overcome challenges in their life. I'm proud to say we have a 100% employment stike rate so far!When I'm not practicing law, I will be with my family relaxing at home or on a family beach holiday together at our favourite spot Noosa Heads Queensland. I try to keep body and mind in good shape by surfing on the Sunshine Coast and using Powerlink's on site gym.You might also have noticed the background photo showing my other passion - travelling with my wife - in this case Varrena, Lake Como.
