About Mark Mccarty

Highly experienced as an attorney in employment and labor law as well as a Human Resources Director.I combine Human Resource and Legal Employment Counsel roles as I find that I prefer the ‘people’ side of the employment equation. I bring the full substantive knowledge of an expert legal counsel to a Human Resources management position.I can additionally provide comprehensive services relating to legal due diligence in compliance, hiring issues, litigation, training, auditing and management issues. I wisely interpret, communicate and provide guidance on regulatory requirements in conjunction with developing and implementing HR programs and policies. I excel at dealing with personnel crisis as this serves as an opening to both resolve issues that can infect a staff and provides an opportunity to show respect for staff. My goal is to keep the inevitable problems from becoming disruptive to normal operations. The best outcome for me is when a troubled employee is turned around into an asset or when I’m able to ensure that my employer doesn’t have a successful employment lawsuit filed. When I took a position as an Employment/Labor Legal Advisor for the Seattle Police Department, I discovered that what I enjoyed most was resolving issues early. A police department is full of daily and often unanticipated conflict, and this served as excellent training ground for me to further develop my mediation and resolution skills. I prefer directly working out contentious issues – saving money, time and bad feeling – to the costly and unproductive course of litigation.I support employers to build loyalty and commitment in their staff. I work to ensure that all sides are treated respectfully. I successfully influence people to reach agreement and create support for strategies. If you are seeking a skilled and confident Employment/Labor Counsel or HR Director/Generalist for your team, please contact me.
