During the summer I work with high school aged youth finding them internships. My role concentrates on special education candidates. During the school year I run Learn Steam. A high school drop out school associated with Klamath Falls City Schools. It includes GED preparation and hands on experience in wood shop, metal shop and some construction techniques.

After 21 years of working for the Oregon State Police as a Sworn Trooper I suffered a on duty Traumatic Brain Injury. I had to start my retirement early and take the next career step for being an educator.

An Oregon State Trooper investigates and enforces all state laws within the state of Oregon. They provide proactive community-based policing to enhance the safety and livability for all citizens. My activities have included a broad spectrum of local traffic-related issues, property/person crimes, narcotics, and major crimes. Traffic based activities involve effective communication under extremely variant stress levels. Compassion to the public, strength of character, and ability to adapt to constantly changing circumstances have all been cornerstones to the job. Issues that impact people and their property have involved but certainly have not been limited to investigations into identity theft, fraud, and forgery. Successful conclusions to those investigations utilized the cooperation of large corporations, banking institutions, and private parties. All of which required a high level of communication and deductive skills. Narcotics investigations require the ability to adapt, to sometimes look at things from the criminal viewpoint, yet never loose the focus of enforcing the law along with verifiable documentation of all actions taken. Communication skills are paramount, but so is the ability to influence people who may or may not want to follow your direction.Major Crime investigations have included assaults of both physical and sexual nature, homicides, and other acts of violence. Compassion to victims, clear understanding and application of the law, and the ability to see both in the micro and macro sense is very important. Every issue, minor or major in its nature, needs the same level of professional attention. A Trooper needs to take a vast amount of information in and then organize that information into concise documentation admissible into both the court of law and the court of public opinion. Overall, my work with the Oregon State Police has required true dedication to the public. It is a challenging occupation, yet very rewarding.

As a Store Director at Copeland Sports, I managed an upwards of 60 employees to drive retail sales. I conducted interviewing and hiring procedures, discipline and termination procedures, and provided mentoring for Assistant and Floor level managers.Other duties included payroll, scheduling, inventory tracking, loss-prevention, and in-store marketing.

As a geotech at Siemens & Associates, I utilized technology, engineering, and geological principles to perform geotechnical analysis of potential construction sites.
