Provide technical leadership around design of the virtual and physical technical platforms supporting KP HealthConnect medical records applications and services. I coordinate the work of multiple US and India based engineers supporting virtualization, Linux, AIX, and Windows. I also provide Subject Matter Expert leadership in the virtualization and hardware spaces. Furthermore, I am the primary contact for several hardware and service vendors.

I oversee the work of third-party support, in addition to providing strategic planning and architectural design. I participate in budgeting and long-range budget forecasting. I work on resiliency for the electronic medical records system to maintain 99.999% uptime. I manage the provisioning of the virtual infrastructure and VMs to support Citrix application and Wintel, both Windows and Linux, virtualization. This includes a large VMWare vSphere clustered infrastructure of over 1200 hosts across 5 data-centers and multiple states, and over 9.600 XenApp hosts supporting 130,000 concurrent users. Kaiser is one of the top 5 Citrix environments in the US by users. Total VMs supported is approximately 15,000.

Activities include coordinating the delivery of multiple infrastructure projects, developing cost benefit analyses for the program, creating and reporting program status utilizing a dashboard, allocating resources across the multiple projects, defining project governance policies and managing the financial concerns of the program.Manage the Citrix, VMWare, and WINTEL infrastructure supporting 12+ million HealthConnect medical records, and to provide availability strategy, integration, enhancement, and implementation for HealthConnect. Approximately 2500 virtual Citrix servers and 1000 Windows application servers support 80,000 health care providers. Support efforts that result in 99.99%+ uptime of HealthConnect.This is the second largest Citrix implementation in the US, and the largest non-government electronic medical record system in the US.

• Senior engineer and team lead for server support, including Active Directory, Exchange, Hyper-v, and SAN storage. • Oversaw major upgrades to Exchange, EMC, and NetApp SAN, including introduction of iSCSI, data replication using EMC Recover Point appliances.• Planned upgrade of Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 and attended Exchange 2010 training.• Supported mobile users with Mobile Iron appliance for IOS and Android.• Introduces virtualization with Hyper-V. Virtualization has included P2V of existing servers and build out of an extensive clustered high-availability environment. • Hyper-V experience includes multiple clusters supporting both production and disaster recovery environments and both internal and DMZ. Hyper-V environments have included 2008 and 2008 R2 clusters and include geographically dispersed clustering. Virtualized environments include online banking. • Implemented EMC NS120 and Recover Point appliances for geo clustering. • Worked with System Center Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, and Configuration Manager. • Projects included Active Directory upgrade to Windows 2008 R2. • Technical project management and scheduling and coordinating work of the entire systems team and contractors.• Assist with annual personnel reviews

Provide general support for internal and customer facing Windows banking environment. Specific duties included support for Windows 2003 Active Directory, Exchange 2003, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Windows clustering, MS SQL 2000\2005, monitoring, and SAN management. Monitoring responsibilities included revising existing MOM 2005 deployment, planning and testing MOM 2007, and testing\implementing additional tools such as ManageEngine OpManager, ELM Log Manager, and Dell IT Assistant. SAN support including end-to-end configuration of fiber attached servers using Cisco and Brocade switches and EMC Clariions and Hitachi AMS1000.

Provide support for a Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory enterprise network including directory services, DNS running on both BIND and Windows 2000/2003, Windows 2000/2003 Network Load Balance and failover clustering, and Exchange 2000/2003. This network supports over 15000 teachers and administrative staff. Other responsibilities include configuring and maintaining external DNS services running on BIND, maintaining external SMTP gateways for multiple domains, and anti-virus and anti-spam solutions for email and Windows servers. Projects have included configuring new Exchange 2000 and 2003 clusters, failover and load balancing, and migrating all users, planning and creating a redundant SMTP gateway configuration including spam filtering, standardizing backup procedures, and assisting in the creation of an off site disaster recovery data center. I also support a variety of applications utilizing Microsoft SQL Server 7 and 2000, ISA 2004, SharePoint and custom web applications.

Provided leadership for a 7 person NT/Network support team supporting over 225 users. I also was the lead for the Denver portion of a company wide deployment of Exchange 5.5 mail servers, and lead architect for the global deployed Exchange organization. Responsibilities included configuration and management of 2 production Exchange servers and a testing server in Denver. Other responsibilities include being the primary NT server administrator in Denver for 21 servers, including IIS, SQL, firewall, and proxy servers. I also was on the corporate Technical Infrastructure Planning Committee. I was the lead, including signature authority, for the Denver technical support budget of approximately $1.7 million. I was also the primary technology planner for new offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil covering both Windows NT and Unix systems. Projects included Windows 2000 testing and planning for migration from NT to 2000, Citrix server rollout, and remote access policy planning covering dial-in access and high-speed telecommuting access via DSL and Cable Modems using VPN. I participated in major data center build outs and the upgrading and expansion of the switched LAN to add capacity and manageability.
