Dr. Mark McIlraith has been in leadership and the academy for over 20 years in California, New York City, New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. His experience includes keynote speaking, teaching at the university level, mission planting, staff leadership, conference directing, grant writing, and publishing. Mark is a graduate of Whitworth College after which he co-founded Westminster House, an inner-city ministry in Spokane. For this work, he received the Washington State Campus Compact Leadership Award, and the City Government of Spokane Outstanding Citizen Award. After graduating from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2001 where he received the Kenyon J. Wildrick Award for Excellence in Homiletics, Mark spent his first years of ordained ministry at the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs as an associate pastor. In 2004, he moved to Spokane with his wife and children, joining Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church as their Pastor of Families, Youth, and Children. While there, he earned a Ph.D. in homiletical leadership at Gonzaga University, focusing on transformational communication through the Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies, recognizing the diversity of voices and lived experiences within organizations. His dissertation is a cross-disciplinary work of behavioral science and Reformed theology using both qualitative and quantitative empirical research methods. During a portion of that period, he was a professor of World Religions at the University of Phoenix. Additionally, while at Whitworth Church, Mark wrote and received a grant from the Templeton Foundation to host a weekend-long symposium on the intersection between faith and science, drawing attendees from far outside the region with well-known keynote speakers headlining the conference.In August of 2014, Mark and his family moved to Southern California where he was the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff at Moorpark Presbyterian Church. After bringing church growth and change, Mark was invited in August of 2017 to be the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church in Lake Oswego, Oregon. In 2023, he has stepped away from this role to create a startup and is currently on the board of Albertina Kerr.Not only does Mark enjoy speaking, teaching, community building, and leading institutions, he has also been invited to share his scholarship and experience by presenting his research findings on transformational preaching throughout the region. In his free time, Mark enjoys his family and spending time with his wife, Paige.
