He moved into business management as the first Managing Director of the fast growing branded pub operator JD Wetherspoon PLC . He then ran the 950 unit Restaurant & Pub Division of Greenalls plc which included Premier Inns - this involved a turnaround and successful sale of the business.In 2000 Mark founded a new startup company Barracuda Group with a team he brought together and raised a £120m Private Equity based funding package to pursue a buy and build strategy in the Hospitality sector . Barracuda acquired three companies and created 3 branded bar and restaurant formats forming a business of over 200 national branches - he successfully sold the business for £262m .In 2013 Mark was appointed CEO of the national bar business Revolution Group which was at that time Private equity backed . He repositioned the business leading to a surge in performance and led the successful IPO of the company to a full Listing in 2015 .Since 2018 Mark has been closely involved with supporting growing branded SMEs as a Chairman , NED and Investor through his consultancy company The McQuater Partnership Ltd .He is currently Chairman of Roxy Leisure the PE backed competitive socialising business , Chairman of Barworks the London based pub company , Chairman of Virgate the Outsourced on line Finance Team provider . He is also Strategic Advisor to Studio Society a new immersive branded fitness studio format and Rockwater a Lifestyle coffee , bar and restaurant business.Mark qualified as an Executive Coach at Henley Business School . He holds a Masters degree in Economics and is also a qualified Chartered Accountant .He is based in Oxfordshire and enjoys skiing, cycling, boating , tennis , and great wine.
