Aberdeen, United Kingdom

Through the use of Sekal's DrillScene I am responsible for the realtime monitoring, capture and analysis of drilling operations on multiple wells simultaneously to reduce risk and prevent lost time incidents through analysing developing transient operational trend deviations relating to Torque & Drag, Hydraulics, ECD/ESD, Holecleaning and Swab & Surge.Through the use of Sekal's DrillExpect uniquely specialised transient physics based deterministic simulation software I can be predictive in ensuring that rig operating limits and downhole mechanical, hydraulic and geo-pressure limits are not exceeded. I can simulate scenarios to optimise parameters, practices and procedures to reduce rig time and reduce risk of failure and loss.Examples include simulations to optimise holecleaning parameters, circulations & well clean up at TD and optimised tripping speed profiles both with and without flow/rotary whilst maintaining within the Geo-Pressure window. In addition more routine T&D sensitivity analysis is also provided to our clients.Even smaller scale operational practices such as pump start-ups (analysing gel breakdown surge pressures) and staging flowrates (for ECD and mudloss control) can be reliably simulated and applied for safer and quicker operating procedures.Highly advanced simulations for CML and MPD operations are also performed as are operations with hydraulic flow split and bypass including Hole Openers, Circulation Subs and Surge Reduction tools. Multi fluid simulations including displacements, cementing operations and of course complex Swab & Surge are also performed by myself. Our valued clients are major operating companies including Equinor, Shell, OMV Petrom & OMV Global, Var Energi, Wintershall DEA, BP, Woodside Energy, OKEA & Petronas.

Using drilling engineering, analysis, display, visualisation & optimisation software I maintained vigilance of rig operations & perform comprehensive well analysis. As remote Rig Site Drilling Engineer I proactively communicated with Rig Supervisors, Office Drilling Engineers & Service Company vendors to inform & mitigate against identified drilling risks; in particular those associated with Kuwaiti development wells.I made predictive engineering calculations & created roadmaps, plan vs actual & statistical analysis of drilling parameters & well data, T&D, Hydraulics, ECD & Swab/Surge; aided by offset well data study.Where available I undertook drilling dynamics shock & vibration risk monitoring, analysis & mitigation for optimising drillstring reliability.Parameters were checked by myself against operating limits for WOB (buckling), Torque, SPP, ECD, PPFG (Swab/Surge) & DP/tubular yield stress. I was also responsible for independently monitoring & verifying equipment & well control barrier pressure testing as per API, IWCF, IADC & KOC standards & procedures.I made drilling parameters statistical analysis to optimise ROP through “sweet spot” determination; aided by use of drilling efficiency optimisation measurements/calculations & graphical outputs including MSE & Power Curves.I provided proactive prediction, detection, analysis, early warning & mitigation with knowledge capture/lessons learned. Recommendations were then made to operations.I performed drilling operations & rig activity statistical analysis for benchmarking operating KPI’s including drilling/tripping connection speeds & identifying/verifying NPT/ILT sources with improvement recommendations. This was performed daily, by run, hole section & for the entire well operations time-scale.I collaborated & provided feedback for DE and DS&E teams bridging the gap between KOC's defined Operations & Drilling Engineering divisions. I was KOC's E&P Software Optimisation Taskforce Member for RTDDC.
