Mark K. Metzger has more than 30 years’ experience in communications, marketing and journalism, including more than 10 years as a senior executive at Shandwick International, one of the largest marketing and public relations organizations in the world (now Weber Shandwick). Mr. Metzger spent 12 years as a journalist, including stints as a prize-winning daily newspaper reporter and as an Associated Press newsman. At Crain Communications in Chicago, he was a founding editor of Crain’s Chicago Business, one of the first local business newspapers. He left INC. magazine as a senior editor in 1985 to enter the public relations business.As a public relations executive, he has launched dozens of start-up companies in a broad array of hardware, software and telecommunications fields, from semiconductors to supercomputers, from operating systems to enterprise software to system integration, and application software from computational chemistry to financial services. He also has worked with industry leaders such as Compaq, Intel, Sprint, UNIX International, and Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis), managing programs internationally.Specialties: In his independent communications practice, he has served as consultant to technology-based companies in a wide range of markets, from consumer electronics to specialty manufacturing, from semantic software to medical devices, and from advanced materials to transportation technology.
