Mark Mitchell is responsible for the development and deployment of USNC Micro Modular reactor. He is a trained mechanical engineer who focuses on Power Generation. The majority of his career has been focused in Nuclear Power. He graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He started out his career in defense and aerospace before he joined the PBMR Project.His major contributions were establishing Fuel handling and structural analysis capability, leading the Graphite Core Assembly team, and later taking responsibility for design of the Reactor System. Mark is experienced in HTGRs (from the conceptual design of the plant to the detailed design of individual components), the development of power projects, and all aspects of managing the multidisciplinary teams that execute these projects. Mark was previously responsible for EON’s engineering consulting practice. In this role, he focused on the core focus areas of the competency that include: Asset Performance Improvement, Asset management, project development and execution, technical assessment and integration, sustainability, and equipment and systems specialists.Mark serves in the ASME code and standards development organization on the committee developing the Div 5 rules for Graphite and Composite Core Components and serving on the BPV Committee on Construction of Nuclear Facility Components (III).Specialties: Power and Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Documentation, Nuclear Power, and Engineering Management.
