Evaluates, analyzes, administers and maintains voice, data and wireless communications systems. Coordinated with operational RPA units and Combatant Commanders (COCOMS) to determine their commercial ku-band SATCOM bandwidth requirements. Acts as technical POC for AFSPC (Formally DISA) and the satellite vendors after leases are acquired. Prepared detailed specifications and flowcharts for implementation of new internal systems or modifications to vendor systems. Provides performance work statement (PWS) inputs that Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), formally Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), requires to acquire satellite leases. Installed, tested, adjusted and troubleshot equipment as necessary. Monitored the operations of telecommunications systems and services of vendors. Managed ACC/ A5I Satellite Earth Terminal (SET) Fielding and Distribution Plan. Supported technical interchange meetings and telecons for new SET requirements and planned modifications. Joint Task Force - Civil Support / Fort Eustis, Va

Develop and coordinate all Communications Systems (CS) requirements (i.e. information management, Satellite Communications (SATCOM) bandwidth, voice, data, messaging, and VTC) in support of exercises, training scenarios, and contingency operations. Identifies CS shortfalls and assists with development of recommendations. Assist J6 in developing communication plans to support exercises for both JTF-CS and higher headquarters. Responsibilities include gathering requirements from subordinate units, developing communication planning products, developing J6 level training objectives, and developing Initial Product Review briefings and products for both JTF-CS and the J6. Responsible for reviewing operational plans and EXORDs from higher headquarters to ensure compatibility with JTF-CS communication requirements. Assist in the development of site survey plans, site engineering plans, and site installation plans. Integrates, operates, troubleshoots and maintains garrison and tactical telecommunications systems and components to include multi-band SATCOM (SHF (X/Ka/Ku/C/L Band), UHF (SATCOM/Line of Sight), TACSAT (DAMA/Dedicated), VHF, and HF communications equipment. Integrates, operates, troubleshoots, and maintains LAN and WAN interface components such as DAMA, data, voice switches and modern CRYPTO devices. Installs, integrates, operates, troubleshoots and maintains garrison and tactical telecommunications circuits and equipment to include but not limited to channel service unit/data service units and associated cabling and encryption devices within DoD and commercial infrastructures and networks. As a Telecommunications Supervisor, provides excellent customer support through maintenance of communications services and operational capabilities of a STEP Media Gateway and Technical Control Facility. Assist the SYSTEMS Control Officer (SCO) in daily operations and reporting duties of the two communications floors (SATCOM and Tech Control). Supervise two NCO's, lead two teams consisting of military and civilian contracting personnel in accomplishing all aspects of operations, maintenance, and training in accordance with applicable DISA, Army and Command Publications. In addition to the SYSTEMS Control Officer (SCO), the Assistant SYSTEMS Control Officer (ASCO) will advise the Commander and the Operations Officer of important operational issues. The Assistant SYSCON OIC will support the SYSCON OIC in maintaining 100% COMSEC accountability, assist in assuring that shift personnel are Site Certified NLT 90 days of assignment to the shift, and aid the SYSCON OIC in assuring all NAOC, WHCA and MILSTAR operations are maintained and within operational standards. Assist in reporting utilizing the Remedy Ticket system. The Assistant SYSCON OIC supervises the installation of all new TCF or SATCOM facility circuits, service restoration for unplanned circuit outages or impairment, and validate preventative maintenance checks and services. Verify Master Station Log (MSL) information for accuracy. Supervise COMSEC issue, change over, destruction and documentation and ensure TCF and SATCOM facility compliance with regulatory guidance. Additionally, the Assistant SYSCON OIC validates and approves any external communications, identifies any operational faults or deficiencies, conduct corrective actions, conducts, supervises, and validates all reporting activities for accuracy as well as verifies that all incident ticketing systems are updated with no time gaps. Additional training duties include conducting, observing, and evaluating training to shift supervisors and personnel.

Satellite Communications Technician in the Fort Belvoir Earth Terminal Complex (ETC) responsible for providing and protecting strategic Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) systems in support of the president, Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of Defense, Combatant Commanders, and other Federal agencies to establish, operate, protect, and sustain the Army's CONUS strategic portion of the Defense Information Systems Network Core (DISN Core). Command, operate and maintain three AN/GSC-52 terminals Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) satellite communications systems and four AN/USC-28 spread spectrum modems supporting multiple networks. Provide long haul and terrestrial communications support to the National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC) and White House Communications Agency (WHCA). Provide communications support for the National Military Command Center (NMCC) with two AN/FRC-181 Air Force Command Post Military Strategic, Tactical, and Relay (MILSTAR) terminals. Command, operate, and maintain a Department of Defense Gateway comprised of a dual STEP system routing to the SDN providing connections to the DSN, DISN video service (DVS), DRSN, and the JWICS. Provide NIPRNET and SIPRNET services via the ITSDN. Also assist in providing secure communications interfacing with the Technical Control Facility (TCF). Responsible for daily COMSEC procedures involving inventory, loading and destruction of cryptographic material. Serves as satellite communications operator, maintainer and shift supervisor in an Earth terminal Complex(ETC) consisting of a Satellite Communications facility (SATCOM) that provides support to the President, the Department of Defense, and other federal agencies with 24 hour world-wide command, control, communications, and intelligence. Responsible for operations of three AN/GSC-52A satellite terminals, four Spread Spectrum Multiple Access (SSMA) AN/USC-28 Modem systems, two Military Strategic and Tactical Relay Satellite Communications System (MILSTAR) Command Post Terminals, two Single Channel Transponder Injection Subsystem (SCTIS) terminals, and all associated DSCS equipment. Operating and assistance in troubleshooting all previously mentioned equipment for active missions and providing various services to include Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR), Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR), Digital Subscriber Network (DSN) telephone lines to Ground Mobile Forces (GMF). Providing Naval Timeplex connection between Naval ships and Naval Communications and Telecommunications Area Master Station (NCTAMS). Responsible for providing mission support for White House Communications Agency (WHCA) and National Airborne Operations Command (NAOC) missions. Providing secure communications between the Earth Terminal Complex and the Technical Control Facility (TCF) for all circuits entering and/or exiting the mainframe computer systems linking the two sections. Performing all required maintenance on all Satellite Equipment associated with SATCOM facility. Responsible for daily COMSEC procedures involving inventory, loading and destruction of crypto material. Proficient and knowledgeable in the operations of various crypto devices to include KIV-19, KIV-19A, KIV-7HS, KIV-7HSB, KIV-7M, KGV-11, KGX-93 and KG-84A.
