Embedded Software Design EngineerArris Sep 2014 - PresentSuwanee, Georgia, Us•Responsible for system architecture, code development and documentation for the new generation Arris Fiber Node Controller Card. This card monitors and controls the devices installed in the node and provides system data and alarm information to northbound monitoring stations. An Eclipse based IDE running on the Linux Ubuntu operation system is being used for development. Coding responsibilities include I2C interfaces, GPIO control, SNMP agents, SQLite3 and application code. The application is multithreaded and performs tasks such as device discovery, messaging, data stream parsing and SQLite3 database access. The code is developed using “C”. The target processor is the Texas Instrument ARM am3352. •Designed the SQLite database used to store data and threshold information that is retrieved from each device in the node.•Developed scripts to compile code modules and build the release packages. •Installed and cross compiled third party applications, such as SQLite3, NetSmnp, SCP and GDB server, for the am3352 target board’s root filing system. •Developed a web application using HTML5, java script and PHP to test GPIO and I2C interfaces.•Modeled the controller card’s software using Linux UML design tools. -
Senior Design EngineerEmcore Oct 2012 - Jul 2014•Developed software for cable equipment using the real-time operating system MicroC/OS-II. Equipment included: EDFA, Transmitter, Optical Switch and micro EDFA products. Developed control algorithms for switch failover and Optical power stability. Also developed a user setup and control interface over RS232.•Updated Linux controller software to monitor and control the hardware interface processor. The software was development with “C” on the Ubuntu operation system.•Created a SNMP interface for the EDFA product using the RTOS uClinux. Mib2C was used to create the SNMP framework. •Worked directly with lead hardware engineers to validate interfaces between the software and hardware.

Senior Software EngineerComcast Feb 2011 - Sep 2012Philadelphia, Pa, Us•Provide software hooks for the Java based set top box user guide to allow access to data needed by the automation test team. •Responsible for porting the cable card interface code to latest code branch.•Updated log4c print filters to provide better debugging capabilities. •Tasked to characterize and solve reported software issues between the set top box stack and the Java based user guide. The software stack is written in, C and C++. The development environment is Eclipse, running on the Linux Ubuntu operation system. -
Sr. Staff Embedded Software EngineerMotorola 1996 - 2010Chicago, Illinois, Us•Developed GX2 Control Module software which supervises application modules and power supplies within the GX2 chassis and serves as the gateway between the application modules and the SNMP and SDU user interfaces. Design incorporates the RTOS from Enea Systems and the SNMP engine from SNMP Research. Platform features include, parameter control and status, alarm detection and an embedded web interface, developed in Java.•Responsible for the development of the SNMP interfaces embedded in each of the OmniStar GX2 application modules. Sixteen different modules can be inserted into one GX2 chassis. Devices communicate with Control Module using a proprietary protocol over the SPI bus. Devices include lasers, amplifiers, switches, receivers, power supplies and controllers.•Managed testing of all OmniStar GX2 devices encompassing test procedure development and review, entering documents into a source control system and providing training and support throughout each testing phase. Ensured all projects followed the TL9000 process.•Senior staff engineer responsible for firmware development for SG4000 optical devices. Devices include laser transmitters and RF receiver modules. Code was developed for the PSoc 27xxx series microcontroller. Network Management Group•Developed visual basic program used to monitor system alarms and prevision HFC headend equipment. Product provided users a visual interface to equipment.•Developed monolithic SNMP agent used to monitor and control HFC headend equipment. Software was designed using C++. The agent was developed using the SNMP Research RTOS agent development tools. Additional responsibilities included development and maintenance of device related interface documents. -
Software Engineer, Ground Systems DivisionLockheed Martin, West Windsor, N.J. Mar 1990 - Sep 1996Bethesda, Md, UsSoftware Engineer, Ground Systems Division, •Responsible for redesign of Command, Range and Telemetry work stations.•Developed real time application software used to operate the Satellite Antenna Control Units. The software was written in “C” and runs on the real time operating system vxWorks. •Designed software using “C” to simulate the Satellite Antenna Control Unit.•Responsible for the design, development and testing of real time software used in the following embedded systems: Command Generator, Frame Synchronizer, Telemetry Generator, Range Tone Processor and Range Tone Generator. Provide technical support for the development of the Command Decoder. Software was written in "C" and compiled for the Motorola 68040 Microprocessor.Electrical Engineer, Ground Systems Division, •Lead engineer responsible for the manufacture, testing and debugging of five Koreasat Command Range and Telemetry stations and two SpaceCraft Simulator racks.•Designed and developed 68000 assembly language code that provided communication links between the Mars Observer Verification Test Lab interface units and the host computer.•Provided software test modules to verify interface functionality between the Mars Observer Verification Test Lab's host computer and embedded controllers. -
