Founder of EmBeDEd - independent Clinical Psychology Services for special education settings

09/2016 - 09/2019Clinical Psychologist - National Autistic Society (Special Education) Working within the National Autistic Society’s special educational provision, I led the development and implementation of a school-based clinical psychology service.  The role involved offering specialist assessment, formulation, and intervention within the school setting. I implemented systems of school-wide positive behaviour support and collaborated with external agencies / universities on the development of an innovative framework for supporting the emotional and behavioural needs of young people with ASD within education. I provided consultation and specialist bespoke training both within the NAS and to external agencies / schools.  My role also entailed providing line management and clinical supervision to the psychology team.

Service for complex autism and associated neurodevelopment disorders (Tier 4 national and specialist CAMHS).  Working within a multidisciplinary team, my time was split between completing diagnostic assessments (primarily relating to autism) and direct therapeutic work with children and families. I held a mixed caseload of young people presenting with a range of complex social communication, mental health, learning and behavioural difficulties.  I regularly taught on both the Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry training courses at the Institute of Psychiatry and on the parenting course offered as part of the team’s ASD post diagnosis service

My earlier career included appointments with: Surrey and Border NHS Trust; Ealing NHS Community Learning Disability Team; Great Ormond Street Hospital Craniofacial Team; City and Hackney PCT Primary Care Psychology Service; Derbyshire Mental Health Service NHS Trust (Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities), The Home Farm Trust (Supported living for adults with intellectual disability) and Cabrini Children’s Society (Residential service for young people with intellectual disability).
