I have been a consulting environmental engineer since the late 80's working on mostly contaminated sites, landfills, mines, and industrial sites. My expertise is in site and waste characterization, remediation, permitting, and compliance. I received a California PE in chemical engineering in 1992 and am a trainer-of-record and Qualified Industrial SWPPP Practitioner under the Industrial General Permit for stormwater discharges (No. 00087). I started my career with EMCON Associates that was heavily involved in the Waste Industry so I have provided a variety of services to the associated maintenance shops, transfer stations, material recycling facilities, and of course, landfills. I worked for Golder Associates from 2005 through the acquisition of Golder by WSP around 2021. As part of Golder I was fortunate to work on several mine sites helping clients acquire Waste Discharge Requirements from the Regional Water Quality Control Board and also staying in compliance with WDRs. I have also assisted clients in obtaining general and site-specific National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and comply with these permits. In the latter part of my career I have been involved with several abandoned mine sites managing multi-disciplinary teams characterizing water, soil, and air impacts; developing solutions to manage potential ecological and human health threats; and navigating the multiple regulatory approvals and permitting required to perform corrective measures in natural settings.
