This job involves a very wide range of roles. Firstly, it involves building computers as well as fixing the general public's computer issues, both over the phone and face to face, whether this be software or hardware. Thus I have a good understanding of Windows, Office, Android and iOS software, and I keep myself up to date with the latest developments. Secondly, it involves setting up Windows and Linux servers, including Active Directory, User setup, DHCP, DNS, File sharing, back up servers, NFS and PXE servers (included within in this is a wide range on network boot live machines and diagnostic tools).  Plus I have set up LAMP systems (Linux, Apache web server, MySQL and php).  On top of this I produced a database for a LAMP system and wrote the web pages including the php scripts to allow data to be entered and retrieved from the database.  Thirdly, the role includes setting up peoples computers, routers, networks and printers, making sure that they can all communicate with each other through firewalls if necessary.  This also incorporates showing the customer how their new computer works and where everything is, which can follow into one to one tuition on the things they want help with.  Moreover, I make sure that they understand about cyber security and keeping themselves safe, whether this be with making sure there anti-virus stays up to date or how to produce strong passwords. Fourthly, it involves designing and writing databases, accounts packages and invoicing templates for clients. I am also in the process of producing games for Android tablets, the second of which is using the Unity game engine.
