Mesa Tech International, Inc. (MTI) seeks to commercialize technologies to reduce the complexity and cost of nucleic acid-based molecular diagnostics (MDx). MTI’s goal is to replace complex, time-consuming and expensive laboratory-based MDx tools. MTI’s proprietary and patented technology, already implemented in working prototypes and in pilot production, yields tremendous cost, time and complexity reductions for MDx that allow such tests to be completed within 30 minutes at the point-of-care (POC), without the need to send samples to outside laboratories. The MTI platform includes easy-to-use, inexpensive handheld units and disposable reagent cards, which will make MDx-based infectious disease and cancer screening far more accessible and affordable to diverse end-users and which will open promising new markets. Initially, these products will be sold to physicians and physician assistants for use in offices, clinics and hospitals. Eventually, MDx in MTI formats could become available to individual consumers at home, making such molecular tests as common as today’s widely used home pregnancy tests.

Development and scale-up of medical in-vitro diagnostic platforms for the detection of disease. Responsible for the design and automated manufacture of disposable, injection molded diagnostic microfluidic cartridges, development of various labels for point-of-care assays, and the scale-up of all chemical processes. Development and lyophilization of reagents including bulk, vials, and bead formats.

Developed and scaled-up a series of precast agarose and polyacrylamide gels for DNA, RNA, and protein separation.

Developed a patented in-vitro diagnostic device for the screening of drugs-of-abuse. Included immobilization of multiple test zones on an artificial membrane, design and optimization of an injection molded device, developed a lyophilization process for unit dose, room stabile antibody, label, and buffer beads, developed a method for self-mixing of the reconstituted components, and automated processes and assembly of the final product.
