In criminal cases, the pretrial process begins with me. My primary function is to provide an independent, unbiased review of charges and complaints by law enforcement officers or citizens. I determine if, and to what extent, further action is warranted when a police officer or a citizen claims that a crime has been committed.My duties include issuing various types of processes such as arrest warrants or summonses, search warrants, subpoenas, and civil warrants. I conduct bond hearings to set bail and conditions of release in instances in which an individual is charged with a criminal offense. I determine whether or not a person should be charged with driving while impaired and hold the initial 30-day drivers license revocation hearing. I may also accept prepayments for traffic infractions and minor misdemeanors. I also hear testimony in domestic violence allegations and determine if a temporary domestic violence protective order should be issued.

I managed the day-to-day receiving and allocation of ceramic tile and all accoutrements related to installation of tile in homes. Managed the assigning of tile and amounts necessary for installation on specified job sites for Ryan Homes, Eastwood Homes, Centex homes and many others. Managed the daily warehousing and shipments. Worked directly with installers to insure the right product was put into the correct project.

I met with families when a loved one died to arrange the interment of the deceased. I also met with individuals and families who were prearranging burial needs. While at this position, I served as the Chamber of Commerce representative for Evergreen Cemetery and developed pamphlets and brochures for advertising.

I taught 8th grade science using the NC Standard Course of Study set forth by the State of NC in Raleigh. My tasks were also relegated to classroom management and discipline within the parameters set forth by professional teaching standards. I would contact parents to communicate the progress of their child in the classroom. I also coached the boys track team where we won the Gaston County Championship in 1999.
