Lead a chemicals sector team promoting UK exports and FDI. Lead a global and UK network of over 130 staff. Heavily involved in Brexit and post-transition issues including sector input to new Free Trade Agreements requiring regular engagement with Ministers and cross-Whitehall working with other government departments. Strong network with trade associations. Lead on the Clean Growth agenda for a group of sectors (Healthcare, Life Sciences, Chemicals, Agri-Tech). Developing case studies of UK strengths in clean growth initiatives such as battery technology, vertical farming, renewable feed-stocks, bio-manufacturing both from an export and investment angle.Lead a campaign and marketing team for the Directorate which develops comms collateral for all the sectors including export offers and investment propositions. Key tool has been the development of a digital hub to showcase all three sectors online.

Sector comprised Agri-tech and Chemicals teams and also trade and investment opportunities in areas such as synthetic biology and biotechnology. Work involved engagement with key markets in Europe and globally, such as South Africa, USA, India and Japan.

Team leader in UKTI's central strategy team. Led on: future digital strategy; trade business model; income generation and GREAT campaign. Focus on UKTI's Futures/Frontier markets strategy. Worked closely with Cross-Government Prosperity Fund, particularly FCO, DfID and Treasury.

Leding team using behavioural insight and 'nudge' techniques to improve compliance of personal tax payers. Ran multiple pilot and research projects to prove the economic benefit of the use of such techniques by HMRC and across government.

Member of BEIS Project Pool as a trained project manager acting as a consultant on a wide variety of policy areas including: advanced materials (composites); skills; shared services; and support to high-growth SMEs (Growth Accelerator).

HMG Secondee to EADS (now Airbus). Secondment comprised placements with all major business units in the UK and Europe and the Strategic planning HQ in Paris. Gained an understanding of business needs, commercial practices and drivers within a large multi-national company. Projects included: business strategy proposals for the UK and Australia; project managing the establishment of a Research and Technology Centre; developed a communications strategy that successfully re-positioned the company in the UK.

Policy adviser specialising in defence industries, defence trade, European armaments and UK-US relations. • Developed policy proposals (including first Defence Industrial Policy) in coordination and cooperation with No. 10, Whitehall Departments and business. Undertook briefing and secretariat functions for several Ministerial Cabinet sub-Committee and associated committees of senior officials on defence, security and foreign policy. • Written and oral briefing to the PM, Chief of Staff, SPADS, No 10 defence and foreign policy advisers on major defence industrial issues. Stakeholder engagement with business and trade associations. Line management responsibility for secretariat office.
