I have spent the majority of my life as a skilled worker on the production floor in many industrial processes. I have an in-depth knowledge of lithographic offset printing both sheetfed and web-fed. I learned all the steps involved from substrates, graphics, cutting, gluing, and in particular the maintenance and operation of large industrial printing presses. However, for the past six years, I have learned all the metal fabrication processes involved with metal roof edge and its’ related products for constructing buildings for industry. I spent most of that time T.I.G. welding standard and custom parts. While I worked as a welder and turret operator I pursued and achieved a degree in Information Technology and Computer Programming. That has not been the extent of my learning. I also learned military communications as a 31Kilo Combat Signaler with the U.S. Army. In the Army, I drove and operated large satellite communication trucks, installed advanced communication systems in Humvees, and was the point of contact (during my shifts) for the upper peninsula of South Korea in the Emergency Operation Control for the 2nd Infantry Division. As a civilian, I received a commercial driver’s license with all the possible endorsements from hazmat to tankers. It was shortly thereafter that I drove a city bus for the city of Asheville and became the Secretary-Treasurer for one of the oldest locals in Western North Carolina, Local 128 Amalgamated Transit Union.
