Under the Science Team providing biological & chemical solutions, I initially worked closely with the Engineering Department, on the development of New Products. Within my first year, I was promoted to Manager and then led the Validation & Verification planning and testing of said devices. During this time I had a total of 8 individuals working in my team. In a fast-paced environment, I worked tirelessly in a large cross-functional set-up to liase continuously with numerous stakeholders and disseminate both results and directives efficiently.

At CASPR Biotech I was investigating a CRISPR based technique and developing a point-of-care, medical device for the rapid and specific detection of SARS CoV-2 and its variants. I was primarily involved in the microfluidic solutions section but later involved in biological assay development and testing due to my prior background experiences.

Working in the research and development division of YPF (YPF Tecnologia or YTEC) I dedicated my time in 2 areas. Primarily in the Renewable Energy section I worked to develop solutions in dye sensitized solar cells, thin film photovoltaic devices and in water splitting for the production of Green Hydrogen. Secondly, I also contributed in the Petrochemical sector developing a nanocarbon-based demulsifier of crude oil. Purified oil with minimal water and solid (organic/inorganic) content is an essential requirement for the petrochemical industry. Part of the extraction process causes large quantities of emulsions which require separation and purification, at a large cost to the industry. These carbon-based nano compounds work as additives to the crude product and allow for a simplistic, cost effective purification solution in both upstream and downstream environments.

During my time here I worked both in the Nanophotonics and Plasmon Nano-Optics Groups. My main tasks in these groups were to bridge the void between experimental physics and chemistry/biology. Using my previous experience I developed research lines in biosensing using plasmons and optic fibers, mobile probes for optical trapping & SERS measurements in biological cells and a host of surface chemical approaches for precise positioning of quantum emitters on lithographic structures (Yagi-Uda). In later years I focussed on nanoparticle synthesis (spheres and rods) for use in photothermal therapy in early stage cancer detection. Finally, I worked in plasmon-related nanothermal observations for chemical reactions and temperature mapping in biological cells.
