As a senior associate (2000-2004) and then partner (2005-2018) in the firm's Litigation, Intellectual Property, and Food & Drug Law practice groups, my practice focused primarily on litigating complex patent disputes, particularly those involving pharmaceutical patents and the intersections of pharmaceutical patent litigation and the laws and regulations governing pharmaceuticals. I served as both lead counsel and as a senior member of litigation teams, representing clients both at trial and on appeal. My work also included representing clients in intellectual property disputes in such diverse fields as biotechnology, mechanical devices, medical devices, cosmetics, satellites, e-commerce, and semiconductor devices, as well as in general business disputes. I handled numerous other matters involving strategic counseling, due diligence, licensing, contracting, and other transactional matters, patent and trademark procurement, and freedom to operate/infringement opinions involving patents, trademark, trade dress, and copyright.

Chief, Criminal Law, U.S. Army Military District of Washington (Jul 1998-July 2000): Prosecuted felony criminal cases as first chair, supervised and trained two trial counsel, and advised commanding officers in criminal matters involving Army personnel stationed in the DC metro area, including the Pentagon, as well as Army personnel stationed in various joint organizations worldwide, including U.S. embassies and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Office of the Judge Advocate General, U.S. Army Standards of Conduct Office (Aug 1997-Jul 1998): Advised senior Department of the Army military officers and civilian officials, and field commanders Army-wide, regarding the laws and regulations governing standards of conduct, government ethics, and conflicts of interest.Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, first Cavalry Division (Jan 1995-Jul 1997): As trial counsel (Apr 1996-Jul 1997), represented government in prosecution of felony and misdemeanor criminal actions, advised criminal investigators, and advised military commanders in all aspects of disciplinary and administrative separation matters. As operational law attorney (Apr 1995-Mar 1996), advised Division command in matters relating to the planning and conduct of military operations, including laws of war, rules of engagement, and claims for personal injury and property damage resulting from military exercises. As legal assistance attorney (Jan 1995-Mar 1995), represented soldiers in personal legal matters including consumer protection, landlord-tenant, and administrative separations. Selected for U.S. Army Funded Legal Education Program/J.A.G. Corps Officer Basic Course (Aug 1991-Dec 1995): Served on active duty while attending law school, J.A.G. Corps training, and fulfilling various summer internships.
