Review, analyzes, and evaluates qualification test reports and quality conformance inspection summary reports submitted by the manufacturer or designated commercial laboratory. From results of the evaluation, prepares letters or qualification, failure, or revocation of qualification. Advises the laboratory performing tests of the procedures to follow should failures occur prior to the completion of the prescribed testing. Determines the amount of retest required and notifies the manufacturer and laboratory. Evaluates “First Article” test reports against the pertinent contract requirements, i.e., military specifications and drawings, commercial drawings, etc.Travels to component manufacturers’ plants to perform facilities audits military and aero space specifications in order to issue Manufacturer Certification on a line-by-line basis. Evaluates the contractor’s facilities and management capabilities to determine the adequacy and degree of control of manufacturing information, procurement, materials, processes, product acceptance, tools, gages, calibration of testing equipment, engineering change control, and other facets which are required to support or provide assurance that the manufacturer can reasonably be expected to produce a product in accordance with applicable specifications.Answers inquiries of manufacturers who have indicated an interest in becoming a source of qualified products for electronic components to be used by the Military Services, and/or NASA/Civil agency.
