The position of RIBA Regional Chair is a two year term role, and I wanted to show that Members care not just about their "Architect" title, but we have a real hunger for a Relevant and Active Membership. This was the first time that the Status Quo had been challenged, and I presented an agenda for Members, none Members and future Members of The RIBA. The Agenda was well received, and the "regular" solution was taken forwards.In due course, I look forward to working the The RIBA to connect through a members to a centric organisation

The local residents have wanted their concerns bring the attention of both landlord, their management agents, and the local council. Rather than just a "complaints" organisation, I have successfully raised funding for community events, and brought improvements streetscape. At re-election time I increased my vote, which was a great vote in confidence for the activities that I was driving

I had been asked to join the Board of Fairfield Moravian Housing Association, a small Housing Association that is Partnered with ARCON and now Bolton Homes.The challenge has been to bring the Board up to date with modern policies, and to activily drive the Housing Forwards with both a short term improvement scheme, and long term Planning

The Code of Professional Conduct (the Code) sets out and explains the standards of professional conduct and practice which the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA or the Institute) requires of all its Members, in accordance with its stated purpose for ‘...the advancement of Architecture and the promotion of the acquirement of the knowledge of the Arts and Sciences connected therewith. As a member of the Panel, I give an objective view to the conduct of RIBA Members when a complaint is made against them, considering reasoned information from the Complainant and the response from the member. The considerations are to promote good architecture and ensure that members can develop better practice for the future.

The committee advises on the formulation of policy and strategy relevant and recommending priorities for the business plan and budget (both income and expenditure).

To provide an expert knowledge resource to support the RIBA’s policies, actions and guidance on planning matters both at a practice level and at a strategic level.

What will I do for architects?1. Ensure a voice is given to the small practices throughout the country.2. Strengthen the role of Riba branches within Riba.3. Create a strong link between the education of architecture & its practice.4. Ensure the work of all architects is celebrated & bring the values of good architecture back into the mainstream.5. Nurture and support the architects and future architects of Britain.

This group is the North West forum for RIBA related practice matters, covering the presentation of CPD, BIM and professional topics for the North West

South Manchester Architects is a Chapter of Manchester Society of Architects, a organisation that I had previously run. The group needed to refocus on its core skill which was engaging with people who had a passion for Architecture, not just Architects.With Covid, it was difficult to engage and create events, but using outdoor locations, social distancing, we regularly held events that were well attended, and also safe.We finished my 2 years with a healthy balance sheet, good number of people attending, and a wonderful talk by Roger Stephenson.

Manchester Architects are one of the oldest and largest branches of the RIBA, with close to 2,000 members.I was elected, and voted to the role by Manchester architects to enable our branch to have one of the most vibrant activity schedules in the county.We have had a very successful year, not just balancing the books, but pulling in new members to the Annual Design Awards, Dinner, and other events
