I look after the largest housing association in Hampshire and the surrounding areas, That means decisions on the communities we serve are made right here, not in a distant head office.With circa 1.000 staff, managing a property portfolio of over 34,000 homes, 3400 garages, 20 shops plus support services for thousands more customers.As a not-for-profit landlord, any surplus from our circa £300 a year turnover is reinvested back into our neighbourhoods, such as on more upgrades of existing homes, regenerating outdated estates, or simply building more homes. We have an ambitious plan to deliver 2,000 new homes each year.Our homes range from town centre apartment blocks to rural cottages – so our approach is to focus on what we do best, and then work with councils, schools, advice agencies, and government departments to tackle complex housing-related issues together.

We own 725,000 homes between us, provide services to more than two million people and employ over 70% of our staff locally. Together we completed over 40,000 new affordable homes between 2008 and 2012. We collectively plan to invest around £5bn to deliver a further 32,000 new homes by 2015. We came together as a lobby group because we see the importance of working in depth with partners at a local level to achieve real improvements within an area. Good housing is the bedrock for a decent life and we are conscious of our pivotal role as change agents. Unemployment, crime, poor health and low educational achievement are all linked so what we do as housing organisations to help residents, local government and other agencies work together can make a huge difference to lives.
