About Mark Pervan

With over 30 years of experience across fashion, textiles, commercial property management, and community leadership, my career is a blend of innovation, design expertise, and cultural commitment.I started my journey with a certificate in textiles from AUT, learning about fibers and manufacturing. This led to studying the Shima Seki Design System in Japan, which combined advanced knitwear technology and computer systems. At the Sweater Manufacturing Company, I designed five fashion ranges for the New Zealand and Australian markets, managing production and sourcing materials from international trade shows. Moving into sock manufacturing, I developed the "fit five systems," a suite of technologies that enhanced the fit and performance of sportswear. At Merino Socks NZ Ltd, I expanded into sales and marketing, successfully developing and selling products internationally to sports clubs, schools, government organizations, major retailers, and corporations. I also managed manufacturing operations and global supply chains.I have over 30 years of experience as a commercial landlord in Auckland, resolving tenant disputes, overseeing compliance, and managing office design and repairs. As an active member of the Dominion Road Business Association for over five years, I have helped foster the growth of local businesses.Community and culture have always been central to my life. As a committee member of the Croatian Cultural Society, I’ve coordinated major events celebrating Croatian heritage. I’ve also spent 20 years participating in cultural dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments. In addition, I have coached football and served on the committees of local clubs, contributing to the development of grassroots sports.I hold a Diploma in Interior Design and am currently pursuing a Diploma in Architectural Technology. I managed the construction of a residential property at 17 Broadlands Drive, Omaha Beach, and am currently overseeing the upgrade of a historically significant home in Epsom.Sustainability is a key driver in my work. As an advocate with the Sustainability New Zealand Party, I am focused on finding innovative solutions to environmental challenges. I’m also developing a groundbreaking electrical system for interior lighting, utilizing 3D-printed components with promising results. In addition, I am an Auckland Council local board member and chair of C&R Albert-Eden Puketāpapa Branch, where I contribute to governance and community development, bringing leadership skills to local initiatives while continuing to develop new technologies.
