Assisted in the preparation of research results for publication or presentation at conferences. Instructed laboratory exercises, lectures and seminars. Served as liaison to researchers and graduate students for the allocation of human, animal, water and equipment resources. Conducted sport fishery and aquaculture extension activities from recreational to commercial scale. Routinely communicated with local, state federal agencies, private landowners, commercial farmers, live haulers, feed manufacturers, processors, equipment dealers/manufacturers/fabricators and chemical companies. Responsible for fish production (~40 tons annual) marketing and sales (~$100,000 annual). Managed a small demonstration farm (7 ha), brood lines and naive fish for departmental research. Facility (land =1880 ac; 344 ponds @ 257 ac) included a variety of indoor/outdoor and closed/flow through fresh warm-water production systems including small (0.05 ac) to large (>20 ac) ponds, raceways, tanks and aquaria. Fish production included fish identification, hatchery, feeding, growth, disease diagnosis/treatment, water quality analysis/conditioning, grade/stock/ harvest/ transport, marketing, sales, nuisance vegetation identification/control, pesticide application and wildlife damage management. Served as a member of the management team (up to 4). Responsible for hiring, training, leading, supervising and managing student employees (up to 8). The students operated at the level of fish production manager (M.Aq.) and fisheries technician (B.S.). There were limited responsibilities supervising full-time agricultural technician staff (up to 9).

This facility was smaller in size; 108 (0.10 to 1 ac) earthen ponds. I was responsible for managing three full-time Fisheries/Agricultural Technicians and up to six student employees. This position also required maintaining positive relationships and management of multiple University Department full-time professional staff (20+) for specialized job assignments including grounds maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, heavy construction and etc. Also, was responsible for the renovation of all earthen research ponds (98 ponds) at the South Farm location conducted by private contractor.Served as dual facilities manager for Coastal Aquaculture Unit (Gulfport, MS) and Experimental Seafood Processing Laboratory (Pascagoula, MS) (2002-2006).
