Managing a team of 10, including Plant Technicians, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technicians and Instrument Technicians. Responsible for ensuring that all raw water sources, pumping stations and treatment works operate at best efficiency and that planned maintenance is carried out and completed. Supporting the Head of Operations and Maintenance in seeking the continuous improvement of the efficiency of assets and the productivity and quality of staff delivery, ensuring the safe and effective performance of the team.

Bristol

Leading the development of standards and practical application of safe systems of work relating to potentially hazardous equipment or operations. Including the regular review, update and promotion of the Bristol Water Permit to Work system. Providing support and advice to Authorised and Competent persons on all matters relating to safe systems of work.

Managing the Production Information Team, consisting of 4 people, to manage high quality data, for reporting and enabling technology to improve business decision making and to contribute and support the business in respect of its data needs (asset, performance and cost records) to facilitate management of the asset base and delivery of the investment programme.Also responsible for ensuring that data and information are of high quality with reliable, comprehensive and dynamic/current data sets relevant to the current and future business requirements. Managing asset information, including drawings, diagrams, registers, performance and cost records to support planning and delivery, including providing access to relevant field staff and other stakeholders.

Bristol

Deputy to the Senior Authorised Person for Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Permits to Work. Providing support and advice to Authorised and Competent Persons on all matters relating to PTW.

Providing the Regulation department with a technical engineering resource to evaluate and improve existing practices and procedures covering all aspects of Asset Maintenance, in line with the Companies strategies and PAS55 guidelines. Managed the Asset Maintenance Team, consisting of 4 people, to ensure the appropriate collection and maintenance of all above ground asset information through SAP.

Supporting the Optimisation and Development Manager, to deliver companywide optimisation projects. These included, but not limited to:• Making plant more resilient and autonomous – maintaining water quality standards and achieving reliable, resilient service (reducing costs of unplanned interruptions)• Improving site standardisation – across all sites reducing staff cross-training requirements and allowing repairs more quickly, therefore reduced downtime and reduced repair/replacement cost • Investigating, analysing and reporting on methods to optimise current systems.• Investigating repeat failures of assets.• Encouraging operating best practice methods throughout Bristol Water • Ensuring maximum efficiency of process plant and systems.• Operation of mechanical and electrical equipment in accordance with company working procedures, ensuring process efficiency and quality is not compromised.

Craft/Maintenance technician, part of a team responsible for overall proactive and reactive maintenance of all mechanical, electrical and analytical equipment throughout the company’s area, also carrying out installation and commissioning of new, existing and replacement equipment. Participating in a 24 hour standby rota. During this period I was also trained as a fully qualified instructor/wearer of self-contained breathing apparatus and assisted in training all Bristol Water staff and contractors in wearing the equipment in confined spaces work and hazardous operations.
