I am a proactive leader who builds the capacity of organisations and communities to deliver to expectations. I have applied this leadership through both paid management roles (refer to the "Experience" section below) and volunteer governance roles (refer to the "Volunteer Experience & Causes" section below). Different to some senior managers / directors, I follow through from vision & strategy, to oversight design, development and implementation, bringing vision alive.My operating style is to move at will between setting the big picture in agreement with stakeholders and inspecting the detail as staff implement the agreed plan. Through this approach I provide both clear business/mission direction and delivery commitment. My communication style is on the dry side but warm and sincere. I combine this with an enabler leadership style in which I task staff in line with their strengths and influence the best possible environment for our success. Staff typically feedback that I am encouraging and empowering, then rigorous but fair. To the extent staff and clients are comfortable, I take an interest in their lives and the transferable events that impact them at work and at home.I continue to work at achieving balance between work, community, family, distance running and motorcycles.
