In the early 1990’s he moved into Business Development and was involved in the introduction of early Smart Metering within the Control and Measurements group of the SECV. He augmented his technical skills with academic business and computing studies, as well as undertaking training in sales and marketing.Following privatisation he undertook diverse roles including the Marketing Manager for CitiPower’s Network Services business, Corporate Business Development for CitiPower and later departed CitiPower to take up the role of National Products and Services Manager with Powercor’s Electricity Retail business, including development and sale of Demand Management systems.Since the early 2000’s he has been the Metering Standards Manager for Powercor, and following its acquisition CitiPower, two of Victoria’s 5 privatised Electricity Distribution Businesses, now operated under one management structure. In that role he has responsibility for the regulatory compliance, metrology and safety performance of the 1.2 Million “Smart Meters” deployed by CitiPower and Powercor as part of the Victorian Governments Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Rollout, and their ongoing operation in the National Electricity Market.
