One step closer to Iron Man :)

As with CDM Education LTD, I help out with coding for Craig n Dave on weekends and evenings as well as working for UCAS during normal office hours.

Start-up company currently providing SaaS real-time assessment software to schools.This is my evening and weekend job, still working full time as a Senior Dev with UCAS during the day.

I've been with Iress, (formerly Avelo, formerly N4 Solutions) for around 10 years, 7 of those (I think, it's been a while) as a Developer Team Lead, having started as a developer, covering teams of between one and thirteen members with a range of both permanent and contract staff covering the full SDLC from analysis of requirements to delivery to the client and aftercare support.My duties include line management of my team, work allocation, appraisals & one to one reviews, monitoring progress on an individual and team level, reporting upwards, escalating/mitigating risks as well as being involved with design, estimation, fault analysis and also coding. My current team is made up of seven permanent staff including senior devs, devs and graduates and six contractors. I enjoy the technical aspects of my role as well as the line management and I try to have a hands on approach - however, I am well aware that one person cannot do everything and I am happy to defer to my team members when their technical knowledge in an area exceeds that of my own.I am keen to ensure there is a good vibe in my teams and that everyone feels that they are valued and have something to contribute. A happy team is a team that cares about their work, the quality of their output and is more likely to go beyond expectations when required.
