Mark Pollack, MD is an accomplished and influential biopharma and healthcare executive, with a proven track record in CNS research strategy, development and medical affairs, as well as of building and transforming medical organizations, focusing on growth through innovation. He was formerly the SVP for Global Medical Affairs at Sage Therapeutics and CMO for Neuroscience of Myriad Genetics. Prior to moving to industry, Mark was Chairman of the Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center and Director of its Mental Health Service Line. He led a 4-fold growth in the department, transforming its clinical, research and educational programs through strategic recruitments, culture change, increased access to care, and the system-wide integration of mental health services. He pivoted the department to a stronger financial footing, in part through his skill as a fundraiser, raising close to $100 million in philanthropic support. His career has marked him as a visionary leader and exceptional manager. Prior to Rush, Dr. Pollack directed the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders and was Professor of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School. He established a groundbreaking research career supported by over 25 years of continuous federal funding, focused on a multidisciplinary neuroscientific approach to anxiety, PTSD, affective disorders and substance abuse. He worked closely with industry as a PI and consultant through the drug development, approval and post-approval process for numerous drugs indicated for affective disorders. He helped found and served as inaugural medical director for the Clinical Trial Network and Institute at MGH, a CRO to foster the development of psychotropics. He maintained an active clinical practice and mentored numerous physician-scientists and Ph.D.’s to independent research careers. Mark is a past President of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and former Chair of its Scientific Advisory Board. He provides consultation and serves on SABs for industry. Mark established centers of excellence at MGH and Rush to provide state of the art care for veterans and their families affected by PTSD Dr. Pollack has over 500 publications and has lectured widely around the world. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Virginia, earned his M.D. at New Jersey Medical School and completed a residency and fellowship in psychiatry at MGH and Harvard Medical School.
