    SRW's MID2030 program is a long term strategy to modernise the irrigation assets in the Macalister Irrigation District in Gippsland. Mark’s role as Manager Macalister Modernisation was to lead this work which was focused on delivery of the largest project SRW has ever delivered - the Southern Tinamba Modernisation. Mark’s significant achievements in this role included:1. Developing and enrolling a project team in the vision to reconfigure a substantial size supply zone via 100% voluntary agreement with customers (i.e. without the use of legislative powers). Supporting and directing team to achieve this mission resulted national recognition via a nomination for a national water industry awards in the category of Customer Experience at OzWater2021 and a subsequent High Commendation.2. Implementation, execution and successful delivery of a program which installed a 45km network of pipeline up to 1600mm in diameter across 74 properties with 32 road crossings and 81 new customer outlets in 3 years.3. Starting with a project which had a lack of senior management confidence, unclear budget/scope and a disaffected project team; within 3-4 months of starting in the role, the project team was highly aligned and engaged and senior management had a clear project charter. Mark developed and grew the capability of the project team whilst raising the bar on safety, procurement, team performance demonstrated by outstanding safety and external survey results. 4. Mark developed strong stakeholder relationships and increased the media profile of the organisation which contributed to outstanding external support during delivery of the project.5. Mark developed and implemented a comprehensive set of principles to ensure all landowners with differing and unique property characteristics were all treated fairly and consistently whilst maximising project outcomes and benefits for all stakeholders.

    GMW Connections Project was a $2B, government funded infrastructure upgrade project to modernise the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District in northern Victoria aimed at recovery of water delivery losses from the GMID.As Manager Construction, Mark initiated, managed and delivered all of the construction work carried out on the project including:- Direction of large scale civil construction projects and programs of work up to $90m annually- Procurement, engagement and supervision of design and construction contractors- Development, preparation and presentation of reports and decision papers for Board and Exec Management- Oversight and direction of projects including mentoring and development of project managers- Leadership, management, professional development and coaching of staff.- Budget and forecast preparation, monitoring and management- Mark's significant achievements whilst in this role have included:1. Delivery of the 2015 winter works program on time, under budget and without a single LTI. This program was over $85m of work in a 3-4 month winter period with nearly 600 construction staff spread over a large geographical area, working in wet, slippery conditions .2. One of the highest results for a manager across an organisation of 700+ employees for two consecutive years (2014 & 2015) in relation to the effectiveness of managers in keeping their staff aligned and engaged on corporate objectives. This is demonstrated in independent, external survey results. 3. Being awarded the 'People First' award at GMW's 2016 People's Awards in recognition of Mark's efforts at coaching, leading and looking after GMW's people.4. A successful major tender process undertaken by Mark to procure a $30M contract for the supply of irrigation flow meters 2. An initiative developed, facilitated and driven by Mark in streamlining the meter design documentation process through the development of a database for generating site data packs using existing GIS data. This ultimately led to a significant reduction of site survey work which subsequently resulted in significant time and cost savings to the meter install program. The basis of this innovation was still in use a decade later on the GMW Connections Project.

This project involved coordinating the delivery of over 120 truckloads of cementitious grout within an 8 hour period in the middle of a busy town on a 40 degree day. This was achieved without disrupting the CBD and without a single complaint lodged whilst also successfully undergoing a full OHS audit of the project during the day’s intensive operation. All stakeholders were very satisfied with the final outcome.
