In my current role I am responsible for placing orders and managing the buying processes and stock systems. This includes ordering products, parts and consumables using the company stock systems, goods in, checking delivery notes against invoices for payment, researching new suppliers, allocating stock locations, maintaining product data on the company database and monitoring stock levels, as well as some facility management, and associated administration. Aside from my day to day duties I am also a keyholder, a first aider and the health and safety officer (this includes undertaking regular risk assessments as well as ensuring the company complies with all relevant legislation). I also have to maintain relationships with key suppliers and to ensure we provide a quality service I regularly turn my hand to other aspects of the business, such as design, picking/packing and dispatch. I am currently working towards a CIPS Level 4 diploma in Procurement and Supply.

I managed a small team in a busy sales office. Tasks included people management such as inductions, mentoring and training, team meetings, 1-2-1s, PDPs and appraisals, discipline and allocation of work. I dealt with customer enquiries and complaints, processing payments, production of reports and analysing sales data, managing returns, updating and maintaining the company manual, as well as general administration tasks such as sorting post, processing orders, filing etc. I also attended conferences and exhibitions all over the UK and in Ireland, engaging face-to-face with prospective customers from all walks of life.I was instrumental in developing company good practice in customer service. Since I started with the company we have gone from strength to strength, winning the prestigious ERA “Supplier of the Year” award twice, the judges citing our excellent customer service in both cases. Amongst other awards we were also commended for our customer service in the 2015 Staffordshire Business Awards.

I engaged with customers in a busy fireplace showroom, taking orders and dealing with enquiries. I also ordered stock, delivered fireplaces using the company van, and undertook general administration tasks.

I undertook all aspects of duty management in a retail environment. This included keyholder duties, people management, allocation of work, supervision of work, ordering stock, goods in, dealing with customer enquiries and complaints, merchandising, administration and banking. An internal promotion saw me take the step up from sales assistant to duty manager.

Duties included merchandising of stock and general customer service.

For the majority of my employment in this timber merchant I was in charge of the sheet materials department, cutting plywood etc to spec as per orders. I also undertook some general labouring duties.
