His early career with URS combined working within the Environment and Planning and Structural Engineering teams, before concentrating full-time on structural engineering. Within the Environment and Planning team, he was responsible for writing sustainability statements to support planing applications and assisting in providing sustainability advice within the grocery store and house building sectors.As part of the Structures team, Mark has worked on a broad range of large and small UK and international projects (a selection of which are given below). His time at URS also included being sent to Sydney, Australia for three months to support Hong Kong colleagues on a maritime project, and working as a Site Engineer for a year through a job swap agreement between Kier Group and URS within the UK nuclear sector.His responsibilities included:# Preparing calculations, specifications and reports.# Drawing sketches and details to be drafted by CAD Technicians.# Managing smaller projects including determining programme and resource requirements, and liaison with clients and internal disciplines.# Working effectively as part of multi-disciplinary project teams.# Assigning tasks to Technicians and junior Engineers.
