Trained as a composer and musician, I entered the corporate world in 1990 following a move to New York City from my native Los Angeles. I've now withdrawn from full-time employment and am once again studying music and composing, completing three major works for orchestra and a piece for solo bass thus far. I am no longer available as a candidate for Business Analyst assignments.I received my BA in Music Composition from California State University at Northridge, studying primarily with Dr. Aurelio de la Vega. I received an MFA in Music Composition from California Institute of Arts (CalArts), studying with Lucky Mosko, Morton Subotnick and several visiting composers, including John Harbison, Bernard Rands, and Louis Andriessen.Following graduation I participated in independent multi-media concerts in Los Angeles as part of Multi-Arts Group Network. Following that I spent 15 years in New York City, establishing a business career at JPMorgan Chase which gave me the equivalent of an advanced education in the world of retail banking, investments and communications. I was also Music Director and administrator for Ancient of Days Dance Theater during that time.In 2004 I moved to Washington state and started a new career as Business Analyst for Russell Investments. At Russell I traveled a steep learning curve in the world of Information Technology and became a Business Analyst. In summary, my time at Chase gave me a great education in business strategy, planning, writing, and communication. My time at Russell took these skills to a new level as a Business Analyst and added requirements gathering, process analysis, data management, and software test design to my skill set. Following that, my position with Gardiant taught me how to work directly with developers as part of a small team, and gave me experience in SQL and report development. I continue to work part time for Gardiant while expanding my horizons musically.

Business AnalystGardiant Oct 2013 - PresentLacey, WashingtonAfter only four months at Cayzen I was invited to join the team of a new start-up headed by the owner of Cayzen. This has been a tremendous learning experience and lots of fun with a group of smart, talented people. I've learned how to build reports using Telerik software and create SQL queries to feed the reports. I've also done a lot of screen-based annotations and requirements, a very efficient way to get from concept to development. Following my withdrawal from full time employment to return to music composition, I continue to work part-time for Gardiant. -
Business Analyst / Technical WriterCayzen Technologies May 2013 - Oct 2013Lacey, WaI worked with a group of very talented, friendly people at Cayzen Technologies in Lacey. They've been working with Washington State agencies for over 10 years and have built up quite a list of accomplishments in that time. I'm looking forward to some interesting assignments helping state agencies to help others by facilitating technology solutions that make their work easier. -
Business AnalystRussell Investments 2006 - 2011At Russell Investments I was trained in business analysis (course by B2T Training) and joined a talented team of analysts from whom I learned the craft. I managed requirements for three major global software implementations and for many small projects that were part of managing relationships with our Russell business unit clients. During my last two years I was part of the Enterprise Data Management team. In this context, I learned a lot about data requirements, data modeling, and relational database concepts. While at Russell I also occasionally wrote articles for internal dissemination to publicize initiatives and report progress, leveraging my communications experience with Chase. -
Assistant Vice PresidentJpmorgan Chase Feb 1990 - Dec 2004New York CityI was brought into the world of internal communications at Chase in 2000 after the group's managers recognized my writing and communication talents during our Y2K testing effort. I started out supporting as an assistant to one of the communications managers, drafting articles, speeches, talking points, creating surveys, helping with the executive outreach program, etc. When a new group was formed to support communications for the new Regional Banking Group in 2002, I was promoted to Assistant Vice President and placed in the role of Chief Editor for this group. During this time I supported the head of the Regional Bank (a supremely talented communicator named Hal Pote) with employee messages, strategic messaging, talking points, executive outreach, etc. I also mentored the other 18 members of our team with regard to writing style and produced the Style Guide for CRB. Due to the amazing leadership of Cathy Nunnally and Cheryl Anderson, our team worked in harmony and became good friends. The team still gets together informally to celebrate their friendship.Prior to entering the world of internal communications I performed a variety of roles, all involving a form of business writing, in support of investment activities and strategic planning led by my manager and friend, Yoram Kinberg. I also supported the International Consumer Services group for a couple of years, including coordinating Y2K testing and communication for our international retail operations.
