Mark has 35+ years of experience in the financial services, insurance, and professional services industries as well as college sports.Strong track record of advising c-suite leadership and boards on a global basis, with specific emphasis on strategic growth, mergers and acquisitions, new venture investing and development, and strategic change. Frequent writer and speaker on the topics of strategic growth and M&A.Prior to Mark’s retirement from Deloitte, he was on the global executive leadership teams of the Insurance Practice ($3.5B business) and the M&A Practice ($10B business). Mark globally led the Insurance M&A and Strategic Growth practice working with teams around the world to develop local business and deliver merger work for clients. He was also head of Strategy and New Business Development for the broader M&A practice globally, developing a new Originations capability for Deloitte.He has participated in over 500 transactions x-sector globally spanning M&A strategy, diligence, integration, divestiture and restructuring as well as helping to set up multiple Corporate Venture Capital arms for clients. His deal experience ranges from Small Cap to Jumbo (largest deal size was $30B), and the CVC’s have raised/invested over $2B in the InsurTech/FinTech space.Mark has spent his career at the forefront of innovation starting with AIG having a seat to participate in its global expansion, then to EY where he had an opportunity to be in the very first business charged with ”figuring out the internet” for the firm and its clients. From there he moved to venture capital and building startups with Viant and TA Associates, and ending with broad experience in mergers and acquisitions on a global scale with PwC and Deloitte.He also established the internal incubator called Startup Deloitte, which enabled over 2,000 junior practitioners to participate and learn how to identify new business opportunities for Deloitte. New businesses identified have an aggregate impact value of over $50M.Mark is also very involved in the world of collegiate ice hockey, founding and chairing one of the largest national governing bodies covering over 175 universities across 20 states and Eastern Canada that enables over 5,000 student-athletes to play college hockey. Built relationships with AAU and the National Hockey League, including local and national sponsors.
