With a brief to recruit a web development team and work with commercial and editorial teams to research, specify and launch new products using a mix of internal and external resources this was a position at the forefront of the Press Association’s digital strategy. Project Management was a key part of this role which saw many websites launched and many sites decommissioned due to integration into new sites. Liaison with stakeholders across all sectors and levels of the business was a key element in a successful department.The role included a large amount of product development and business analysis with technical specification and architecture design. Products were delivered using a mixed model of in-house resources, outsourcing contracts and partnerships. External clients included most of the British media with sites being hosted for MSN, Yahoo, News International (Times Online), GMGT (Metro, Daily Mail, Northcliffe group) and Virgin Media among others. Over a 100 websites were hosted serving in excess 30 million pages a month and peaks in traffic caused by breaking news
