Building maintenance and renovation.

Assembling and building mining vehicles for 4 and a half years also assembling engines, gearboxes, axles andcooling fans for the dumper trucks and loaders.

I was working as a pre-school English language assistant and daycare helper.Working within a multicultural daycare with children from the ages 3 to 7 helpingthem gain self- confidence, good social skills and preparing them for school and life.Teaching preschoolers English language skill and assisting with all day to day projects including catering and cleaning.

Summer job, collecting trash from public areas in a tractor or van, cutting grass and general maintenance of public areas. Clearing ice and snow and opening drain ways in carparks and pathways.

I started here as holiday cover for 2 months delivering carpet and materials all over the south of England andafter 7 months I became the Assistant Manager in the warehouse dealing with all deliveries incoming andoutgoing. Dealing with invoices, delivery sheets, orders, stock orders, logistics and looking after delivery vans,i.e., repairs, diesel receipts, mileage. I also learnt to use and drive a flexi forklift truck and a boom truck. I wasalso, on the cutting floor 3 to 4 days a week where I was cutting carpet from a plan from a 50 meter roll andmaking ready for distribution. I also looked after the ceramic tile division which is quite new and needed alot of setting up i.e. shelving, building a cutting table, sorting ceramic tiles into series and finishes, loggingstock and sending out samples to clients. I also did some maintenance work around the building.

Assisting electrical engineers with installation, also responsible for all underground carparks and public area lighting. I also did some cable pulling and cable tray installation.

July 2005 – October 2006 The hotel had gone through a year and a half total refurbishment which I was verymuch involved in as on site supervisor for all the tradesmen and labour force liaising with outside contractors,architects, designers and senior management and dealing with all deliveries and ordering of materials. Thiswas a great challenge which for most part I thoroughly enjoyed.My main duties after the full renovation were:General upkeep of the hotel including bedrooms, offices and public areas, dealing with guest requests andproblems in this 105-bedroom hotel. All aspects of furniture repair i.e. beds, tables, chairs, doors and frames,door locks and windows. Also repairs of toilets, baths, sinks and showers. Painting, wallpapering and tilingjobs.Generally dealing with anything that is passed on to maintenance for repair. I was also responsible for firebell tests, health and safety checks and meter readings i.e. water, gas and electric, water treatment, plantchecks, first aid equipment, and emergency light tests. Always on call when not on duty and I was alsoresponsible for contractors on site.

All aspects of furniture repair i.e. beds, tables, chairs, doors and frames, door locks, windows (sash), alsodoing minor repairs in toilets, baths, sinks, and small tiling jobs.Generally dealing with anything that is passed on to maintenance for repair, building new furniture for officesi.e. filing cupboards, new desk tops, partition walls and hanging pictures and notice boards

The general upkeep of the hotel, minor plumbing and electrical problems, Painting and decorating. TheSecurity of hotel and guests. I also did a lot of fire training as it was my duty to investigate fire indicationswith the duty manager.

The Griffin Project. Working in a 14-bed nursing home for drug users with HIV/AIDS. I was responsible for the upkeep and smoothrunning of this 5-story converted house/respite home. I dealt with all aspects of housekeeping andmaintenance repairs. I gained very valuable experience here as the smooth running of the home dependedon my abilities to do my job expertly and promptly.Because the clients are not well everything is colour coded to stop cross infection and done by a schedulesystem.
