Successfully lobbied relevant senior leaders support to incorporate outlying staff delivering technical data management responsibilities establishing an integrated and holistic data management organisation supporting the end to end business process lifecycle across all subsurface Development and Exploration domains.• Regulatory Compliance. Spearheaded the initiative with the Brunei government and BSP legal team to established a clear governance process for data export that ensures compliance with our concession agreement while simultaneously reducing the complexity and increasing efficiency for both sides.• Strategy. Successfully developed and implemented a new 5-year strategy for Technical Data Management in BSP designed around: technical focus on ensuring trusted data, providing governance and oversight of technical data throughout the business lifecycle; and organisationally delivering best in class integrated Technical Data Management solutions ensuring long term sustainability.

Team Lead of the Subsurface Data Management Team (growing from 4 to 10 staff) as part of the Subsurface and Wells IT Support organisation. Key responsibilities were coaching and developing staff on subsurface data, improving data management business communication and integration, developing data management strategy for Corporate Data Management in BSP and providing Data Analysis and Support on the newly deployed Corporate Data Store.Key contributions:• Organisational Change. Developed a detailed business case for consolidating and transitioning Subsurface Data Management into the Development Organisation creating a dedicated Technical Data Management Organisation securing full support from the BSP Technical Director, Development Manager and Global VP for Technical Data Management (go live 2014).• Business Improvement Program. Developed, implemented and managed delivery of a 5-year Technical Data Management Business Improvement Program with a Multi-Discipline approach; securing high level support from the BSP Technical Director and Chief Petroleum Engineer. A paper on our approach was successfully chosen for presentation at Shell’s Global Technical Data Management conference.• Standards. Implemented Leak Off Test Minimum Standard for BSP which was then taken and deployed as a Shell global standard. Defined and embedded data ownership roles and responsibilities within BSP’s subsurface assets and disciplines.
Subsurface Data Management Consultant
International transfer and promotion to Brunei Shell Petroleum. Key responsibility was as the Technical Project Manager delivering the Landmark Corporate Data Store (CDS) in BSP to replace a legacy data store while actively coaching an IT graduate in data management principals, geology & geological data management and Project Management.Key contributions:• Project Delivery. Successfully deployed CDS and decommissioned 90% scope of the legacy database EPBASE managing a team of 2 staff and 1 graduate.• Data Quality. Established Technical Data Management steering committee with a stratified membership with representation from the assets, disciplines and senior leadership to review and prioritise improvements to data quality issues identified during the CDS deployment project. • Standards. Developed, deployed and embedded 18 data workflows and data loading work instructions for CDS – endorsed by BSP Subsurface Leadership.
