• Initially employed to set up the market Surveillance department.• Implemented Capital Adequacy measures as prescribed by the FSB and taken from the Basel Accord.• Re-engineered the trading rules for Members and IDBs, along with implemented systems to detect non-compliance. • Designed and implemented a value at risk model for the Exchange. • Member of the board responsible for the “3 way” Exchange merger i.e. BESA, JSE, SAFEX. • Headed the Surveillance committee and represented the Exchange on the risk committee and trading committee. • Promoted to General Manager for Market Operations in 1998. Responsible for the daily functioning of the full trade cycle (from initiation to settlement (some R50 Billion per day – in excess of R11 Trillion per year.) • Part of the project to move to T+3 for the Bond market.• Designed, championed and rolled out the bond trade capture and automated trading system. • Re-engineered and implemented the Settlement Rules and Settlement Authority. • Managed and championed the Total Return Indices.• Wrote the original bond calculator software for the website. • Sat on the Strategic planning Board for the Bond Exchange.
