About Mark Rains

A determined leader with broad development experience, 12 patents, and expertise in embedded software, calibration, hardware releasing, manufacturing support, and technical sales. A problem solver ready for the next challenge. As an engineer, I am always interested in learning. My education includes a BSME, MSME and MBA while also receiving certifications with Shainin Red X and Design for Six Sigma. My skills include both hardware and software engineering, leading multiple groups, program/project management, creating DFMEAs and engineering best practices, improving product quality, and working with senior leadership. My career started at GE Aircraft engines as a member of their Technical Leadership Program. This program included rotations through their turbine engine test departments, controls algorithms, and systems engineering roles. During the controls role, I was awarded my first patent and quickly earned my MSME from the University of Cincinnati. I moved to Indianapolis to take a calibration/controls position with the Allision Transmission Division of General Motors. Over the years, I moved to roles with more responsibility eventually becoming a supervisor and then manager of the calibration group and obtained 11 additional patents. The last 3 years with Allison, I worked with the Sales and Marketing groups conducting technical sales discussions with commercial truck fleets and managed the group which interfaced with the major commercial truck OEMs and the commercial engines OEMs. The technical sales discussions were such a success that I was asked to create and manage the Customer Experience group in addition to my other roles. In 2017 I joined FCA Automobiles as a technical manager and was moved through the organization before being asked to take a Chief engineering role in 2020. Since then, I have been responsible for releasing FWD and most recently RWD/Hybrid automatic transmissions at Stellantis.
