Center For Ai Innovation In Health Care AdministratorHartford Healthcare Feb 2020 - PresentHartford, Connecticut, UsI run the Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Center at Hartford Healthcare. Currently, the Center is host to fourteen (14) ML projects for the HHC/MIT research partnership. I support the researchers with custom machine learning environments, configurations, and serve as their main point of contact at HHC when they need help overcoming ML hurdles.I also do my own research and deployment, for example, developing a model to diagnose anomalies and heart disease in Electrocardiograms (EKGs or ECGs), and coding a GAN to build my own library of medical images that are not subject to the security concerns of PHI. I work mostly with the PyTorch and TensorFlow frameworks from META and Google, respectively, and also have partnerships with these organizations to use their code and tools to build sophisticated models for more tasks in medical diagnosis and laboratory analysis. My latest project is the customization of META's "LLAMA" models for medical educational and diagnostic purposes, using a variety of tools including PyTorch. I'm also writing a syllabus and lesson plan to introduce machine learning concepts and practical applications to our medical and nursing staff. -
Systems Engineer IiiHartford Healthcare Feb 2017 - Feb 2023Hartford, Connecticut, UsAIX, and Linux administration with a focus on deep performance analysis of applications, databases and all other running entities. Also experienced with deploying virtual machines in a RedHat Linux environment to maximize hardware utilization, on both Intel and Power systems platforms. With AIX, I work with all versions from inception through 7.2 TL4. In RedHat Linux, I work primarily with versions 7.2 through 8.2 on both the x_86 and PowerPC platforms. In AIX, in addition to being a performance and diagnostic specialist, I also have extensive experience with NIM, having setup NIM servers and clusters since its inception in the late 1990s. With RedHat Linux, my specialty is virtualization, having had extensive experience with building virtual machines of nearly every flavor of Linux, and Windows. Also with RedHat, I utilize the Cockpit interface to both manage and monitor Linux systems in a centralized location. The cockpit also has numerous undocumented features, such as the ability to perform some of the functions of an AIX NIM server to manage software updates on guest machines, and I have successfully used this technology in many instances.I coordinate the activities of HHC's fledgling AI lab, which provides development frameworks like Tensorflow, Pytorch and Keras via Jupyter Notebooks. I also manage the IBM Maximo Visual Inspection application, which I use to model various medical diagnostic procedures like determining the presence of brain tumors in MRIs, differentiating benign vs malignant growths in tissue samples and detecting cardiac catheterization anomalies in videos. -
Technology WriterTechchannel Jan 2016 - Jul 2024Minneapolis, Mn, UsI am now writing an article series on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for TechChannel. The series covers mostly the "Connectionist" -- or Neural Networking -- tribe of AI, with a focus on learning the basics of the technology on home or business equipment. -
System P And Aix PerformanceIbm 2006 - Dec 2016Armonk, New York, Ny, UsMy GTS Team and I diagnose and eliminate complex operating system, database, middleware and application performance problems on AIX (v5.3 - 7.1) hosted, virtualized or dedicated System P platforms (Power 5 - 8) for IBM internal and external customers. We also providing mentoring in beginning, intermediate and advanced performance data collection and analysis techniques. My own methodology in the performance practice has been proven since 1999; my Team Mates have similar long-proven methods.Check out my AIX Performance group here on Linked In, at this link:https://www.linkedin.com/grp/home?gid=8283184&sort=RECENT -
Aix/P Series PerformanceAix Consultant Oct 1996 - Nov 2006I landed my first AIX consulting gig in the mid-nineties. In 1999 I became involved in AIX performance when an Oracle database that had been installed on one of those newfangled AIX "LPAR"s began running like molasses. I think I was anointed the performance specialist because I could spell "vmtune". I got hooked on performance and diagnosis, started taking all the performance courses IBM had to offer, and made it my profession.
