Starting studio24 architects in 2012 followed a number of years working in big practice. The studio focuses on contemporary architecture with human-centered design within a sustainable ethos. Areas of interest include small site and gap-site development, mixing building typologies, housing in all its forms, repurposing and remodelling existing buildings and sites within a local context. The studio have won recognition through local awards for design and construction.My interest in building sustainably started in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993, when I researched and designed a ‘House as an Event’ that blended low energy construction methods using timber technology with low energy use for an off-grid single family dwelling.Since then I developed an aptitude in design and interest with sustainable forms of architecture. Following architect director positions at leading international design practices between 1995 and 2012, I gained expertise in developing mixed-use and single function typologies for retail, leisure, residential and workplace buildings, covering a range of scales both in the UK and China.Working closely with other specialists, my aim is to deliver progressive solutions to clients. I've led multidisciplinary project teams undertaking all stages of the design process - from early concept design, through planning and construction to completion. Following careful consideration of alternatives, materials, systems and construction methods, I can bring design clarity to projects, both visually and technically. This synthesis of ideas often evolves unique, high quality, cost aware simple designs capable of a practical execution.I was the RIBA elected member of the Cambridge City Design Review panel in 2017-2018 and the Suffolk Design Review panel between 2015-2016. I'm an active supporter of the local RIBA chapter; the Cambridge Association of Architects.
